• Elizabeth Howard, a partner with the law firm of Boyd & Jenerette and The JBA YLS president, was chosen to teach Construction Law for the spring semester at Florida Coastal School of Law. Howard is a Florida Bar board-certified construction lawyer and the head of the Construction Law Department for the firm.
• The Jacksonville Bar Association Board of Governors member Giselle Carson wrote a two-part article in The Florida Bar Journal discussing issues in worksite enforcement and E-Verify. The article appears in the December issue.
• Rick Sichta, formerly a partner at Tassone, Sichta, Dreicer LLC, has started The Sichta Firm LLC. Frank Tassone and Jesse Dreicer have renamed their firm The Law Office of Tassone and Dreicer LLC.
• The City issued a permit for Forrest Inc. to build out space for the How Do You Roll restaurant at 9734 Deer Lake Court, No. 9, at a project cost of $108,000.
• Among office permits, the City approved a permit of IBT Enterprises LLC to renovate space at 9802 Baymeadows Road for Fidelity Bank at a project cost of $279,757.
• In the health care arena, Auld & White Constructors Inc. will handle the interior renovations for Brooks Health on the fifth floor of St. Luke’s Hospital at 4201 Belfort Road at a project cost of $359,240.
• Prestige Construction Systems Inc. will handle a roofing project at 1450 W. Church St. at a cost of $28,500.
• JTA’s board of directors approved fare modifications to start Jan. 30: Regular fare for buses and trolleys will be $1.50; express bus fare will be $2; and reduced fare passengers will pay 50 cents and that will increase to 75 cents Jan. 30, 2013. The decision on paratransit fares was tabled until the January board meeting.
• Scott Stuckey, former general manager of the Omni Jacksonville Hotel Downtown before moving in 2008 to take over the Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in Pennsylvania, is moving to Atlanta to take over the Omni CNN Center, the largest hotel in the brand with almost 1,100 rooms. Stuckey expects the move to take place right after the New Year. He’s been with Omni Hotels since March 2005, when he took the Jacksonville post. He was recently named “Citizen of the Year” in Bedford.
