• The command of Naval Air Station Jacksonville changes in January. The change-of-command ceremony is planned at 11 a.m. Jan. 13 at which Capt. Robert Sanders assumes command from Capt. Jeffrey Maclay. Sanders has been the executive officer. Maclay assumed the duties of executive officer at NAS Jacksonville in July 2009 and became commanding officer in May 2010, relieving Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. Scorby recently returned to Jacksonville as commander of Navy Region Southeast and assumed the rank of rear admiral.

• The City approved building permits for Giles-Mcivor Inc. to renovate space at 8149 Point Meadows Drive for the LMR Hope LLC fertility clinic at a project cost of $480,000 and for Dav-Lin Interior Contractors to build out space for the Baymeadows Clinic at 7301 Baymeadows Way at a project cost of $200,000.

• Jacksonville native Leanza Cornett, a former Miss America, will star in “Nunsense,” which kicks off the Alhambra Theatre & Dining’s 45th season. The show runs Dec. 30-Feb. 5. Cornett is a 1989 Terry Parker High School graduate, the 1992 Miss Florida and the 1993 Miss America. She also has hosted and appeared in TV shows, including “Entertainment Tonight.” “Christmas Carole” is currently playing at the Alhambra through Dec. 24. • Community Hospice of Northeast Florida published its 2012 Volunteer Pet Therapy Calendar, featuring some of the dogs and their owners in the 48 pet-therapy teams. Therapy dogs and their owners have played a part of the Community Hospice care team since 1996. For information about the free calendar and locations to pick one up, visit www.communityhospice.com. Also, anyone wanting a photo with a family pet will receive a 50 percent discount from the calendar’s photographer by mentioning the pet therapy calendar. The studio session fee will be donated to Community Hospice.

• The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors reported housing sales were up 5 percent in November over the year, from 1,118 in 2010 to 1,174 this year. Of those, 627 were traditional sales and 547, or 46.6 percent, were lender-mediated. Inventory dropped almost 31 percent from 15,498 available properties to 10,722, a 7.4-month supply. The median sales prices declined 7.7 percent to $130,000. For traditional sales, the median price was the same over the year. For lender-mediated sales, the price fell 5.5 percent from $89,950 to $85,009.
