With seven performances scheduled today-Sunday at the Times-Union Center and The Florida Theatre, there’s no reason not to see The Nutcracker ballet this holiday season.
Thursday at the Times-Union Center, more than 3,500 students from North Florida public and private schools saw the classic ballet performed by a cast of local ballet troupes while the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra played Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s memorable score.
Another 2,000 students are expected in the audience today, said Paul Witkowski, symphony spokesman.
Other performances of the First Coast Nutcracker with the orchestra are scheduled at 8 p.m. today, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Witkowski said the matinees were almost sold out as of Thursday, but tickets are available for the evening performances.
At The Florida Theatre, the Florida Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at 7:30 p.m. today, and 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available for all performances.
