I gave a lot of thought to running for Florida Bar President, an office I hold in high esteem. I believe that my many years of practice in Florida, coupled with my work as a member of the Board of Governors, chair of the Board of Legal Specialization and Education and on the Florida Bar Foundation Board, have prepared me to take on this role at a time that is very challenging for our profession and our state.
My focus as Bar president would be to help our members, especially those impacted by the economic downturn, garner benefits from the size and power of the Bar. I am interested in helping develop free practice seminars and launching other initiatives that improve the image, professionalism and business results of lawyers across the practice areas. I have already created the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Bar and lead the website redesign effort.
Jacksonville has provided The Florida Bar with many presidents, strong leadership and role models for professionalism. I have been encouraged by those past presidents to run for this office and am dedicated to continuing their legacy and giving the Bar and our membership the strongest possible leadership.
