U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw was welcomed by Rotary Club of Jacksonville President Cindy Stover at the club’s meeting Monday. Crenshaw was there to ask for a moment of silence to recognize his colleague, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was critically wounded by a gunman Saturday in Tucson, Ariz. “It is a stark and somber reminder that there are risks involved in public service, but it would be a sad day in America if we walled off public officials from their constituents. We will get through this,” said Crenshaw. He was recently appointed to chair the House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch. One of the subcommittee’s responsibilities is oversight of budgets for security at House members’ district offices.
