Scott seeks candidates for judicial openings

Gov. Rick Scott has asked the Fourth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission to find candidates for two seats in the Circuit and County Courts.

The vacancies were created from a resignation and an appointment.

Circuit Judge Haldane Taylor submitted his resignation and County Judge Kevin Blazs was appointed to fill the seat of the late Circuit Judge Jefferson Morrow.

Applications for both seats must be submitted by 5 p.m. Aug. 12.

Applicants must deliver a completed application plus nine copies and one compact disk or flash drive containing a duplicate of the completed application in Adobe.pdf format to:

The application form can be downloaded from www.floridabar.org.

Eligibility requirements include being a member of The Florida Bar for the past five years, a resident of Duval, Clay or Nassau counties and a registered Florida voter.

If needed, the Fourth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission will interview applicants Aug. 29 in the chambers of Chief Judge Donald Moran, Room 222 in the Duval County Courthouse.
