Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll was the guest speaker at the Clay County Bar Association’s 38th Annual Law Day Luncheon May 27 at The Country Club of Orange Park.
More than 160 people attended the event, including elected officials from Clay and surrounding counties. Carroll spoke about the job development strategy of the governor’s office and plans for Florida’s future.
The association presented $1,000 scholarships to three students: Madison Surdyke, a senior at Fleming Island High School, Sara Dicks, a senior at Ridgeview High School, and Rachel Salzer, a senior at Fleming Island High School.
The association also presented its “Liberty Bell” award to Clay County Dental Care for its service to the community.
Clay County Dental Care has created an indigent dental clinic that operates with the volunteer help of local dentists and other volunteers to offer free dental care on Fridays to the needy citizens of Clay County. It is a 100 percent volunteer organization that has created and funded a clinic at no cost to the taxpayers of Clay County.
