Jacksonville Community Council Executive Director Skip Cramer and Elaine Brown hosted the presentation of JCCI’s latest study, “Recession Recovery and Beyond” Wednesday at the Hyatt Downtown.

Brown chaired the study, which identified ways to sustain and grow the economy in North Florida.

Cramer, who is retiring from the organization later this year, said it would be the final study during his tenure. He praised Brown’s guidance of the 17-week program that involved more than 80 community volunteers.

“She made a wonderful transition from Robert’s Rules of Order to our consensus process. Elaine clearly had ideas and input, but she was able to bring out input from the group and that’s critical for the chair of a JCCI study,” he said.

“The subject matter was of personal interest to me because of the regional impact focus,” said Brown, a former member of the Jacksonville City Council and incumbent Northeast Florida Regional Council board president.

“It was a very satisfying experience but I had to put my City Council hat away,” she said.

Brown presented the study’s findings on ways to promote the sustainability and growth of North Florida’s economy and said in conclusion, “It’s not a silver bullet. It’s about strategic planning for the future,” she said.
