• The celebrity guest star for the Alhambra Theatre & Dining’s “The Odd Couple” will be Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady in The Brady Bunch, the 1969-74 TV series. The show is May 25-June 19. The Alhambra also has two M*A*S*H stars on its credits. Loretta Swit starred in “Amorous Crossing” last summer and Jamie Farr is planned for “Lend Me a Tenor,” Sept. 21-Oct. 16.
• The Alhambra plans to host a “Locks of Love” event 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 13 during its run of “Hairspray.” It will have hairstylists on hand to cut your hair, if it is at least 10 inches long, for donation to the nonprofit. The stylists will then cut and style your shorter hair. Locks of Love makes hairpieces from the donated tresses for children with long-term medical hair loss. • Michael Corrigan, a candidate for Tax Collector, said he missed the First Coast Tea Party Forum on Thursday because he was attending a Sheriff’s Advisory Council meeting in his role as a City Council member.
• The Jacksonville Aviation Authority board of directors approved two items at its meeting Monday. It approved an amendment to the operating and lease agreement with the Navy at Cecil Airport for a budget transfer of $700,000 for Hangar 880 project improvements. It also approved implementing a safety management system as part of a pilot program. The Federal Aviation Administration will issue a grant for $223,120 to match $74,373 from JAA for the project.
• Peak 10 Inc., which manages data centers, is providing services to the Jacksonville Port Authority for its disaster recovery plan. The facilities on Peak 10’s Jacksonville campus will provide the port with a secure and hardened infrastructure for its data and business continuity needs.
• Roger Hoover will become the new Jacksonville Suns play-by-play broadcaster for the 2011 season. Hoover replaces J.P. Shadrick, who moved on to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks. Hoover is a native of Kingsport, Tenn.
• Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida contracted with Crucial Care to provide a full range of services in the Jacksonville area. Crucial Care offers access to emergency medicine doctors and comprehensive medical treatments. Blue Cross and Blue Shield members who visit Crucial Care will only be charged their urgent care benefit, even for serious cases, as opposed to more expensive emergency room co-payments.
• The National Retail Federation predicts that sales will rise 4 percent this year, excluding sales for automobiles, gas stations and restaurants. The outlook follows seven consecutive months of retail sales growth.
• The first area Wells Fargo prototype branch will be unveiled Thursday when it reopens its renovated Wachovia office in Historic Springfield at 1601 N. Main St. Additional work is under way for a new corporate training facility at the site. The reopening event is planned 5-6:30 p.m. Wells Fargo bought Wachovia and is putting up the new name on area locations.
