“On a clear day, I can see Jacksonville Beach,” said artist Christina Foard of her new studio at AT&T Tower 301.

Foard’s new studio has quite a view and plenty of space for the prolific painter, who sometimes has as many as 30 paintings in progress.

“It’s all about energy management, my level of energy and what stage each painting is in,” she said.

Foard has been working in a studio in her home for eight years, a much smaller space that limited the size of her work. Now with about half a floor, Foard said she can contemplate much larger paintings.

“This working space will be a game changer. It puts me in the range for big-time galleries and commercial commissions. I’m also thinking about sculpture and installations,” she said.

In addition to having plenty of room to work, Foard has set up an area in the studio as a living room and in another corner is what she calls her “cafe.”

“I’m here a lot. Sometimes, I’ll work until 2 a.m.,” she said.

When Foard’s not in her studio, she’s the program manager for “Arts in Medicine” at UF Shands Hospital, where she coordinates music, dance and visual art workshops for patients.

Foard said she feels at home in her new studio space. Born in Cincinnati, she also lived in Washington, D.C., before moving to Jacksonville.

“I’ve got urban in my soul,” said Foard.
