• Melissa Adams was appointed president of the Jacksonville Urban League Young Professionals, whose mission is to cultivate a new generation to support the Jacksonville Urban League. Adams is a senior analyst for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, where she provides strategic management and technology services.

• Changes at The St. Joe Co. Park Brady becomes COO effective March 21 and will report to new chair Bruce Berkowitz, interim CEO Hugh Durden and vice chair Charles Fernandez.

• March is another month without a Jacksonville Economic Development Commission meeting. The Thursday meeting was canceled because of no action items. The same happened in February.

• Bankruptcy filings are slower this year than last year, which was a record year for filings in the Middle District of Florida. For the first two months of 2011, there were 8,107 filings in the 35-county Middle District, down 15 percent from 9,551 last year. In the 16-county Jacksonville division, 1,390 filings were made, down 12 percent from 1,583 last year.

• Two Marshall’s clothing, accessories and home merchandise stores will hold grand openings March 17. One is at Highland Square along Dunn Avenue and the other is at Normandy Village along Normandy Boulevard.
