• Visit Jacksonville hired tourism veteran Dennis Tracy for the newly created role of senior vice president of destination sales and marketing to sell and market the city as a meetings and convention destination. He joined last week. Tracy follows Visit Jacksonville CEO Daniel O’Byrne from the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, where Tracy was director of sales and marketing and O’Byrne was CEO before coming to Jacksonville late last year.

• Speaking of Visit Jacksonville, Mya Surrency, vice president of marketing and development, will speak to the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Health Council Thursday about “What Constitutes a Great Health Care Destination?” The event is 11:30a.m.-1 p.m. at Brighton Bay Resort Style Retirement Living. • The June 2 Health Council meeting will feature Moody Chisholm, CEO of St. Vincent’s HealthCare.

• City Council member Ronnie Fussell plans to introduce a resolution recognizing the “countless civic contributions” of former Mayor Ed Austin, who died April 23.

• The Ethics Commission meets at noon today at City Hall. Vice chair Helen Ludwig, 89, was recently recognized by HandsOn Jacksonville with the “Young at Heart Award” for volunteerism. Ludwig’s volunteer involvement includes the League of Women Voters, RSVP of Duval County, Women Elected to Municipal Government in Florida, Senior Life Foundation Inc., Council on Elder Affairs, Mayor’s Special Events Advisory Council and the First Coast Tiger Bay Club.
