Local Assistant Public Defenders (from left) Jason Gropper, Owen Schmidt, Razan Farmand, Tricia Rado and Lisa Gilbert took part in the Doreen Myers 5K run/walk in Woodbine, Ga., April 30. The race’s namesake served as a deputy with the Camden County, Ga., Sheriff’s Office and later as a forensic interviewer at the Golden Isles Child Advocacy Center before her death due to an automobile accident in February. The run benefitted the center, which offers services and counseling to children who have been sexually and physically abused and assists law enforcement in the investigation of the offenses. Participants could also donate to the Kaitlyn Myers Trust Fund, established to help support Doreen Myers’ young daughter.
