• Former mayoral candidate Audrey Moran intends to leave her position as president and CEO of the Sulzbacher Center at the end of the year. Moran said Thursday she’ll pursue other adventures but had no specific plans. Asked if she might join Mayor-elect Alvin Brown at City Hall, Moran laughed and said no and that she has no set plans at the time. Moran said she will assist the Sulzbacher board of directors in finding her replacement to lead the service center for the homeless.

• Mayor-elect Alvin Brown spoke this morning to the Downtown Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Downtown is very important,” Brown told the Daily Record before beginning his presentation. “It speaks to our character and who we are as a city.” Brown said he intends to use public-private partnerships “to leverage our assets.” He also said the chamber was very important. “I think we have the best chamber in the country.”

• Downtown Council’s next meeting is at lunch June 3 at The University Club. The keynote speaker is State Attorney Angela Corey.

• The League of Women Voters Jacksonville plans a panel discussion exploring “Perspectives on Cuba” at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at The University Club. The league will talk about its recent academic research trip to Havana. Tickets are $20 per person and will be available at the door. Email Katie Ross at [email protected].

• Wolfson Children’s Hospital was ranked in three categories consisting of four pediatric medical subspecialties in U.S. News Media Group’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings. Wolfson was ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the nation for diabetes and endocrinology, urology, and neurology and neurosurgery.

• St. Vincent’s HealthCare President and CEO Moody Chisholm will speak June 2 to the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Health Council. The 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. event is at Brighton Bay Resort Style Retirement Living at Baymeadows Road and Florida 9A. Information: www.opportunityjacksonville.com.

• The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities said Goodwill Industries of North Florida has been accredited for 2011-13 for its programs and services, Goodwill’s 12th consecutive three-year accreditation. Goodwill is the area’s largest not-for-profit specializing in job training and placement services for people with barriers to employment.
