With just three days to go before the Jacksonville Jazz Festival begins in the heart of Downtown, workers were putting the finishing touches on the block of Laura Street between Adams and Monroe streets Monday.
Over the weekend, trees were installed along the block and Downtown Ambassadors mulched the beds at the bases of the new trees. The final elements of the brick work at Laura and Monroe streets were also being completed.
Thursday afternoon, the “Road Closed” signs are scheduled to be removed and replaced with traffic cones and festival signage, said Paul Crawford, the City’s Laura Street project manager.
“It will be much more aesthetically pleasing,” he said.
After the festival, the street will be repaved and lights will be installed in the tree beds.
