Naval Air Station Jacksonville plans a weekend of airshows to celebrate 100 years of naval aviation.

“Saluting the Centennial of Naval Aviation” is scheduled Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the shows begin at 10 a.m. The public is invited and there is no cost for parking, admission or the Kid’s Zone.

The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Other performances and demonstrations include the Super Shockwave Jet Truck, which races down the runway at speeds more than 300 mph.

The show is part of a yearlong celebration honoring a century of naval aviation.
