The annual list of the most 500 expensive ZIP Codes in the United States was published last month by Forbes magazine and, although none were in Northeast Florida, there were 21 Florida areas listed.

Two were in the top 100: Fisher Island, a suburb of Palm Beach, ranked 43rd and Rosemary Beach, an enclave in the Panhandle, was 69th.

Not surprisingly, New York and California have the entire the top 10 with the No. 1 spot going to Alpine, N.J., a New York City suburb that lists a number of entertainers (Sean “Diddy” Combs, Chris Rock and Stevie Wonder, among others) as residents.

Atherton, Calif. is next; it’s the favored spot for big shots in the high-tech industry around San Francisco. Sagaponack, N.Y., which is in the Hamptons, is third, certainly helped by the $30 million listing price of one estate.

The list was based on the median price of homes for sale, with a minimum of 20 to be on the market.

Here’s the top 10 nationally and Florida cities (some are listed several times because different ZIP Codes made the list:)
