Peg Ganger, outgoing chairwoman of the Girls Inc. of Jacksonville board of directors, accepts a $30,000 donation Monday from Meninak Club of Jacksonville President-elect Pete Hallock (right) and charity project committee Chairman Nick Napoleon. Meninak makes an annual charity grant to an area nonprofit that serves underserved children. The grant must be used for a capital project. Girls Inc. intends to use the donation to repair and upgrade its Arlington center, which serves 29 girls. The organization works with girls who live in economically depressed neighborhoods and offers after-school assistance and other programs that inspire girls to be “strong, smart and bold.” Girls Inc. also operates a center in Spring Park, which works with 37 girls. Other Girls Inc. programs reach other girls in the community. Ganger said the organization would like to grow by adding centers in other areas of Jacksonville.
