Some of America’s most skilled textile artists have brought their work to Quiltfest 2011 at the Osborn Center.

More than 450 quilts, some traditional and others decidedly not, will be exhibited today-Saturday.

Quilting guilds from North Florida have been gathering each year to show their creations for more than 25 years. This year marks the 15th year the event has been held Downtown at the convention center.

Quilters from all over the country and from Panama have entered the judged show this year.

It’s not just about the show. Quiltfest is also about competition, including cash prizes in the categories of Best of Show, Viewers’ Choice, Artistic Merit, Best Hand Quilting and Best Machine Quilting.

The show is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. today and Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $8 per day or $15 for all three days. Parking in the convention center lot is free.
