• St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside was chosen by Edwards Lifesciences as the first hospital in the region to offer patients transcatheter aortic valve replacement therapy. The hospital said there are only 13 other hospitals in Florida offering the technology. The therapy was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2011 for patients with severe aortic valve stenosis or severe narrowing of aortic valves. St. Vincent’s anticipates it will perform its first procedure in early September.

• The San Marco Train Station site at 1440 Hendricks Ave. was quiet Tuesday at lunchtime but the sign continues to promise a Panera Bread and a Boost Mobile on the property, bounded by Hendricks Avenue, Cedar Street and Naldo Avenue. Ashco Inc. is the developer and its www.ashcoinc.net website defines the location as “Jacksonville’s newest upscale hotspot.” Panera operated nearby but closed about year-end 2009.
