Field of practice: Criminal defense and family law, and occasional work with colleagues regarding business litigation and other civil litigation.
Professional organizations: Direct Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Community involvement: I regularly serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve to protect our cherished rights from foreign threats, to contribute in humanitarian efforts throughout the world, and to simultaneously look out for and help lead some of the many great young men and women of our military. I participate in Jacksonville Area Legal Aid because there are many families throughout our community who want to understand the law, yet are often confused about the breadth of existing, new and ever-changing laws. I reached out to JALA and asked if I could serve as one of its presenters. JALA offers many great benefits for our community, such as providing legal services to those who could not otherwise afford an attorney, and much more. Along with other volunteer attorneys in our community, I present some of the overriding principles of Florida family law there.
How did you get involved?
I wanted to help and protect people throughout our community. Thankfully, many leaders within the U.S. Navy, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid and our legal community are willing to provide me with their insight and experience, or even just provide me with a good forum so that I can help others, too. Thank you for that!
How can someone else get involved?
Find any organization in your community that is important to you, reach out and ask how you can contribute.
What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
That I am very fortunate to have such a supportive family. Due to many of their efforts, I am able to contribute to our community.
What was the last book you read or are reading?
“SuperBaby,” by Dr. Jenn Berman — I’m striving to learn helpful insight for raising my first child!
