A Jacksonville condominium project won a Grand Aurora Award at last month’s Southeast Builders Conference in Orlando.
John Gorrie a condominium, a rehab of an old elementary school building in Jacksonville’s Riverside area, was the top Northeast Florida project recognized at the Florida Home Builders Association-sponsored event.
The project also received an Aurora award.
Other Aurora winners from Northeast Florida were the coincidentally-named Aurora Custom Homes and Remodeling for a $3 million-plus home in Ponte Vedra Beach and the Jacksonvillle-based GreenPointe Homes for its model of a detached single-family home in Brooksville.
The Gorrie is a project of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ ex-owners, Wayne and Delores Weaver, and Gordon’s Castle is headed by their daughter Leigh.
Aurora Custom Homes and Remodeling is based in Jacksonville Beach and was founded by Michael Lenahen.
GreenPointe is headed by former LandMar executive Roger Postlethwaite and is the developer of the Cedar Bay subdivision in North Jacksonville. The Brooksville project is part of a development called Southern Hills Plantation.
A Florida homebuilder won the Golden Aurora, the highest award given. Phil Kean Designs took the award for a custom home in Orlando. It won over the other “Best of State” winners.
