Nocatee doesn’t have a rainforest, but the development soon with have a zipline.

Construction on the line has begun and will open soon. The approximately 340-foot line starts on the top platform of the Rip Tide Slide Tower, crosses over the park’s lazy river and volleyball courts, and ends on the park’s western side.

A zipline is a elevated cable that harnessed riders slide down. They are popular in rainforest resort areas such as Costa Rica.

Nocatee’s line is being installed by Vertical Reality, a South Florida company. According to a press release, the line will be constructed of an interwoven polyester cable that is stronger than traditional steel cables, with a breaking strength of 11 tons.

A magnetic braking system, called an eddy current brake, will stop zipline riders with no abrupt jerking. According to a spokesman for Vertical Realty, the zipline's highest point is almost 32 feet above ground level and maximum speeds will be a little above 30 miles per hour.
