In the crowded field to become the next Duval County School Board District 7 representative, there was no clear winner Tuesday. Jason Fischer and Jon Heymann will face each other in a runoff Nov. 6 after the six-person race failed to yield the required outright majority. Of the 16,134 votes cast, unofficially, Fischer led the pack with 4,450 votes, good for a 27.6 percent share. Heymann finished fewer than 500 behind, with 3,960 votes for a 24.5 percent share. Other candidates included, in order of finish, Lori Harrell Hershey, Coree Cuff, John Turner and Frank Swanson. The winner of the Fischer-Heymann runoff will replace Tommy Hazouri, a former mayor, who has represented the district since 2004.
