Brenda Priestly Jackson defeated Bill Hodges in the Democratic primary for Clerk of Courts. Priestly Jackson, a two-term Duval County School Board member, received almost 26,000 votes compared to Hodges’ more than 17,000. She will now face Ronnie Fussell, a former City Council president, Nov. 6 in the general election to determine who will succeed current Clerk of Court Jim Fuller. Fuller was ruled ineligible last week to run for a fourth term due to term limits, which left Fussell the sole Republican on the ballot.
