No runoff will be needed in the Duval County School Board District 5 race following a sound victory by Constance “Connie” Sands Hall. In the three-way race, Sands Hall received 60.2 percent of the 12,019, or 7,239, votes cast, more than enough to meet the more than 50-percent threshold needed for victory. Also in the race were Chris Guerrieri, who finished second with 2,791 votes, and Pervalia Gaines-McIntosh, who finished with 1,989. Sands Hall will replace Betty Burney, who initially attempted to defend her seat before not qualifying due to term limits.
