• The trustees of The Community Foundation in Jacksonville have chosen Paul Perez as chairman, succeeding Cindy Edelman. They also chose two new board members — Dori Walton and Jim Winston. Perez, who joined the board in 2009, is chief compliance officer of Fidelity National Financial. Walton worked in commercial and investment banking for two decades. Winston is chairman and director of LPMC, a private investment company, president of Citadel Life & Health Insurance Co. and a general partner of White Oak Land Co

• Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. Tuesday said it will hold a special shareholders meeting at its Jacksonville headquarters on March 9 to vote on the company’s proposed merger with Bi-Lo LLC. Winn-Dixie’s board of directors agreed in December to a buyout offer from South Carolina-based Bi-Lo for $9.50 a share.

• Dr. Yank Coble is scheduled to talk about “Health, Medical Care and Bioscience — Our Golden Opportunities” from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Brighton Bay Resort. Coble will speak to the JAX Chamber Health Council. For information, visit www.myjaxchamber.com.

• The Women’s Center of Jacksonville 2012 Speaker Series starts March 6 with Olympic gold medalist Shannon Miller. It continues March 27 with Jacksonville Human Rights Commission Executive Director Charlene Taylor Hill and concludes May 1 with Trisha Mell, author of the memoir, “I Am The Central Park Jogger: A Story of Hope and Possibility.” The events start at 5:30 p.m. at Theatre Jacksonville. • The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women is accepting nominations for women who have made lasting contributions to the Jacksonville community. Four local women will be selected as poster honorees celebrating Women’s History Month in March and recognized at a reception at the University of North Florida Thomas G. Carpenter Library. This year’s theme is “Women in Motion.” Nomination forms are on the commission’s website at www.coj.net, search keyword women. They can also be requested by contacting Alice Checorski at 630-3632 or at [email protected]. Nominations are due Monday at 5 p.m.
