Makar, Wallace nominated to appellate court vacancy

Florida Solicitor General Scott Makar and Fourth Judicial Circuit Judge Waddell Wallace III are among the six names submitted to Gov. Rick Scott by the First District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Paul Hawkes.

Makar is the former chief of the appellate division of the City General Counsel’s Office.

The commission met Jan. 5-6 at the First District Court of Appeal.

The other four names, from Tallahassee, submitted to Scott were Charles Dodson, Stephen Emmanuel, Miguel Olivella and Timothy Osterhaus.

The members of the Judicial Nominating Commission are Michael Glazer, chair; Edward Fleming, vice chair; and Alan Bookman, Patricia Ann Conners, Barbara Johnston of Jacksonville, Jerome Novey, Daryl Parks, Gary Rutledge and Steven Yablonski of Jacksonville.
