Paul Vance has stepped down as general counsel and senior vice president of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the organization reported Monday morning.

Former Assistant General Counsel Sashi Brown, 35, has been promoted to senior vice president and general counsel and will assume the general counsel duties previously held by Vance.

Brown finished his seventh season with the Jaguars in 2011 and his responsibilities included contract negotiations, employment matters, insurance and risk management, intellectual property and licensing issues, and litigation management.

Before joining the franchise, Brown was with the firm of Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr in Washington, D.C., as a member of the firm’s corporate law practice group. He earned his undergraduate degree from Hampton University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
