• President Barack Obama announced his intent to appoint former Ambassador Nancy Soderberg, a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the University of North Florida, as chairperson for the Public Interest Declassification Board, an advisory committee established by Congress to promote public access “to a thorough, accurate and reliable documentary record of significant U.S. national security decisions and activities.” Soderberg is a Jacksonville Beach resident.

• Bill and Kim Prescott plan the first “Dine with Us Downtown” for 2012. After four events in 2011, the fifth will be Jan. 25 at Zodiac Bar & Grill at 120 W. Adams St. Bill Prescott, Jacksonville Jaguars CFO, and his wife have reservations at 7 p.m. and invite people to join them by making reservations between 5-9 p.m. The goal is to bring at least 100 diners Downtown that evening.

• St. Vincent’s HealthCare has signed a new contract with Humana, Florida’s largest Medicare health benefits company. The agreement gives more than 10,000 Humana Medicare Advantage HMO members in Northeast Florida access to St. Vincent’s HealthCare doctors, programs and facilities.

• SMG Jacksonville, responsible for managing City performance venues, has completed a redesign of its website www.JaxEvents.com. Sarah Bartlo, SMG director at the Times-Union Center, is the project manager for the website design and launch.

• Correction: Tommy Rasheed was misidentified in Wednesday’s Daily Record. He is the manager, not co-owner, of Like That Cut barber shop Downtown.
