Construction for EverBank is beginning in the AT&T Tower 301, now known as EverBank Center.

The City approved seven building permits Wednesday for Auld & White Constructors LLC to start cosmetic renovations to restrooms and other areas on seven floors of the building, at 301 W. Bay St.

Permit costs total $723,939. The permits are the start of the project that Jacksonville-based Auld & White will handle for the EverBank move.

Auld & White Constructors LLC recently formally announced it was selected by building owner El-Ad Florida LLC for the $8.5 million build-out of nine floors at the AT&T Tower for EverBank.

It said the project is on a five-month, fast-track schedule.

Jacksonville-based Auld & White also will handle a second project at the same time — the building improvements to common areas, including elevator lobbies and restrooms.

Jacksonville-based EverBank announced in December that it will relocate 1,500 employees from the Southside into nine floors in the Downtown tower.

EverBank is based along Riverside Avenue near Downtown and will maintain its headquarters there. The employees moving to EverBank Center are from the Southside suburbs.

The City and state agreed to offer EverBank $5.15 million in incentives to move jobs from the suburbs Downtown and create 200 more jobs.

In June, City Council approved two incentives deals. One of those gives EverBank $2.75 million to offset the moving costs. EverBank said it would spend $26.5 million to move and improve the space.
