• Mayor Alvin Brown’s social media town hall meeting, “Ask Mayor Brown,” was rescheduled to 4:45 p.m. today. Residents can submit questions on Twitter using the hashtag #AskMayorBrown or by leaving a comment on Brown’s Facebook page. He will answer questions on live-streaming video that will be posted on the mayor’s Web page, Facebook and Twitter.

• Gate Petroleum Co. bought 6.85 acres from the Jacksonville Transportation Authority along McCormick Road in Arlington for $1.2 million. Gate posted a sign across McCormick Road from its existing Gate station indicating a new store is on the way. The deed was recorded June 28.

• The next “Am I My Parents’ Keeper?” discussion by Jacksonville Community Council Inc. is planned from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. July 12 at JCCI offices. The topic will be “Paperwork 101: Navigating and Organizing It All.” For more information, visit www.jcci.org.

• PSS World Medical Inc. received the Pro Patria Award from the Florida Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for the company’s support of employees serving in National Guard and Reserve programs. The award is presented annually by ESGR to the one employer in each state who has provided the most exceptional support of national defense through leadership practices and personnel policies that support their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. PSS was nominated by Tad Strong, PSS senior director of global operations, who recently served a 12-month deployment. “We are grateful for them and proud of them and will continue to do all we possibly can to support them and their families,” said PSS President and CEO Gary Corless.
