Participating restaurants, menus and more information will be posted at www.eatupdowntown.com.

Wolfson collecting new toys at its Downtown hospital

The region’s only children’s hospital will collect new, unwrapped toys during its first “Christmas in July Toy Drive” 7 a.m.-2 p.m. July 25 at the front entrance of the hospital in Downtown Jacksonville on the Southbank.

The event will feature holiday helpers like the summertime Surfin’ Santa, Mark Brunell and his family, Tony Boselli and his family, other Jacksonville Jaguars celebrity guests and Wolfie, the hospital’s mascot.

In addition, all RPM Automotive locations throughout Jacksonville are serving as toy collection sites through July 25. Visit www.rpmautomotive.com for a listing of locations.

Leading up to Christmas in July is a Virtual Toy Drive that allows donors to make an online monetary donation toward the purchase of toys and art supplies for patients by Child Life specialists with Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

The online drive will be held through July 25 at www.wolfsonchildrens.org/toydrive. A downloadable Christmas in July Wish List also is available.

Toys are needed now because the hospital’s toy supply typically dwindles during the summer away from the traditional spotlight of holiday giving and year-end charitable donations.

“We are confident that the community will take action once people know the toy supply at Wolfson Children’s Hospital is getting low because we have seen their generous spirit on countless occasions in the past,” said hospital President Michael Aubin.

“The comfort a toy brings a small child is priceless and as a nonprofit organization, we rely on charitable donations to provide world-class care for all children in the region,” he said.
