The sixth edition of “Eat Up Downtown,” Downtown Vision Inc.’s annual two-week prix-fixe dining promotion to showcase Downtown’s restaurants, is scheduled Aug.13-26 at 23 venues offering menus from casual to fine dining.
There are six new restaurants and two new price point options this year.
Added to the list of participating eateries are Big Pete’s Pizzeria, the Brew House Lounge at River City Brewing Co., Chomp Chomp, Fionn MacCool’s Irish Restaurant & Pub, Olio and Underbelly.
In addition to the traditional $25 per person price point for an appetizer, entrée and dessert, this year $15 and $35 options have been added.
“Having tiered pricing this year allows some of our casual restaurants to participate and having the higher $35 price point allows our fine dining restaurants to be more creative with their menus. We wanted to find a way for it to work for both ends of the spectrum,” said Katherine Hardwick, DVI marketing director.
Hardwick said about 18,000 people came Downtown for dinner last year during the promotion. Six of the 17 restaurants that participated added a third week to their offer, she said.
Like last year, the event has been promoted with marketwide direct mail advertising. Hardwick said the $12,000 “Money Pages” campaign was funded by the City Office of Economic Development and the total marketing budget for Eat Up Downtown this year is $24,000.
