State Attorney changes staff positions

The State Attorney’s Office announced staff changes Wednesday that it said would streamline decision-making and prosecution.

In a news release, the office said staff changes comprise:

Management, SAO business office:

• Bernie de la Rionda is the office’s senior managing director. He will help make office decisions while continuing to serve as the grand jury adviser and will oversee homicide cases.

• Cheryl Peek, managing director, is taking on the additional duty as hiring director and will continue to coordinate the office’s intern program.

• Rich Komando has been promoted to executive director and will continue to work in public corruption cases. He replaces Mike Weinstein, who is on leave to run for state Senate.

Homicide, Major Crimes, Repeat Offenders divisions:

• John Guy has been named managing director and director of homicide.

• Rich Mantei has been promoted to director of the major crimes units and cold case homicide.

• Jeff Moody has been promoted to senior division chief and also is in charge of the violent crimes task force.

• London Kite has been promoted to senior division chief of the repeat offender court.

Circuit Court:

• Mark Caliel is promoted to the director of the circuit court, replacing Mark Borello who is on leave to run for circuit judge. Caliel also will work on homicide cases.

• Sean Daly has been promoted to deputy director of circuit court and will continue as CR-B division chief.

• Steve Siegel moves from the county court division to circuit court division chief.

Nassau County

• Wesley White continues as director.

• John Kalinowski remains division chief.

Clay County:

• Steve Nelson remains the director.

• James Colaw is now senior division chief.

• Khary Gaynor transfers from Duval’s circuit division chief of CR-G to Clay County’s division chief.

Sexual Assault Division:

• Alan Mizrahi is promoted to director of the sexual assault division.

• Terrence Martin is the senior division chief.

• Theresa Simak continues as division chief of domestic violence, the sexual assault division and Division I.

Special Prosecution:

• Dan Skinner is promoted to director of special prosecution.

County Court, Juvenile:

• Julie Taylor is the new director of county court and juvenile court.

• Lee Smith is promoted to division chief of county court and will take on duties as traffic homicide attorney.

• Brooke Brady is now division chief of juvenile.

Appellate, Public Records Division:

• Sheila Loizos continues as senior division chief of appellate and public records.
