After reconsidering the decision in April to cancel the July First Wednesday Art Walk, Downtown Vision Inc. has reversed its position concerning the rare instance when the once-a-month event is on the same day as a national holiday.
Based on feedback from Downtown business owners and artists, Art Walk is back on the calendar for 5-9 p.m. July 4. It will be the prelude to the City’s Independence Day celebration and fireworks show scheduled for 9:45 p.m.
DVI Director of Marketing Katherine Hardwick said Art Walk will give the expected 100,000 visitors the opportunity to explore Downtown at one of its most popular events while they wait for the fireworks to begin.
She said it could turn out to be one of the most well-attended Art Walks of the year.
The Landing scheduled its traditional activities, with live music by Stevie Fingers at 5 p.m. followed at 10 p.m. by the 5X7 Band. Guests at the Landing must be 21 years of age or accompanied by a parent.
