• Prudential Network Realty has promoted Chris Cardinale to chief financial officer. Cardinale joined Prudential Network Realty in 2006 as director of finance and is responsible for the company’s financial operations and management.
• The City approved plans Thursday to build out space for 7-Eleven at 111 N. Julia St., at Julia and Forsyth streets. Great Dane Petroleum Contractors Inc. is handling the $164,300 project. Another Downtown store will operate at 9 W. Union St. They are among the more than 80 7-Eleven stores planned by 2015 in the Jacksonville area.
• The Landing will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a party from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the riverfront retail and entertainment center.
• Downtown Vision Inc. scheduled its next Downtown operations meeting for 9:30 a.m. July 11 at the Main Library. The meetings provide updates about safety, events, traffic and development-related issues.
• Jill Dame, interim executive director of the Jacksonville Children’s Commission, will help present Jacksonville Community Council Inc.’s “Children: 1-2-3” report today. The event will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Schultz Center for Teaching & Leadership at 4019 Boulevard Center Drive. Joining Dame in presenting the report will be Dr. Peter Gorski of The Children’s Trust in Miami and Christine Lester, senior consultant with Baptist Health.
• The 2012 Political Hob Nob is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Hyatt Downtown. The JAX Chamber and ImpactJAX are partnering with WOKV FM-106.5 and AM-690 to host the event. • Baptist Health was notified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center that it was redesignated as a Magnet Health System, considered the gold standard among health care organizations for recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice. Currently, only 7 percent of the hospitals in the United States have Magnet designation.
• Florida State College at Jacksonville ranked among the top 10 associate degree producers in the nation in six categories, according to a June 11 report published in Community College Week, a national weekly specializing in issues related to community colleges. FSCJ ranked third nationally in the number of associate degrees granted in Liberal Arts and Sciences, with 4,110 for the 2010-11 academic year, a 37 percent increase from 3,005 the year before. The college granted a total of 5,409 associate degrees for the year, ranking it fourth in “grand total” and fifth in “all disciplines.” The 5,409 figure was a 29 percent increase over 4,209 the year before.
