• After a nationwide search, the board of directors of River Region Human Services Inc. announced the appointment of Tiffany Galvin Green as CEO and executive director effective next Monday. Green has worked with River Region Human Services since 2009, primarily in grant-writing and strategic planning roles. She also worked closely with the former CEO, the late Derya Williams.
• Fidelity National Financial Inc. continued to expand its restaurant business Monday by agreeing to buy J. Alexander’s Corp. for about $72 million. J. Alexander’s operates 33 restaurants in 13 states, including one at the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville. Jacksonville-based Fidelity is mainly a title insurance company but its majority-owned restaurant subsidiary, American Blue Ribbon Holdings Inc., owns six chains that operate 674 restaurants in 43 states and has annual revenue of about $1.3 billion. Those chains are Bakers Square, Max & Erma’s, Village Inn, Stoney River Legendary Steaks, O’Charley’s and Ninety Nine.
• Fidelity National Information Services Inc. announced on Monday an agreement to sell its health care benefit solutions business for $335 million in cash to private equity firm Lightyear Capital LLC. The Jacksonville-based company said the sale is part of a plan to focus on its primary business, which is to provide technology services for financial institutions.
• The City approved permits for 10 signs for 7-Eleven Downtown – three at 111 N. Julia St. and seven at 9 W. Union St. The Julia Street signs carry a job cost of $2,600 while the Union Street signage is $9,900. The contractor for both sites is Dixie Signs Inc.
• Dicks’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls and more retail spaces were OK’d for construction at the Parkway Shops next to River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville. J. Raymond Construction Corp. is the contractor on the three projects, totaling a job cost of $8.4 million.
• The Northeast Florida Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar scheduled a program, “Road to Success: The Bright Future of Trucking in Jacksonville,” for 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Florida Department of Transportation office at 2198 Edison Avenue. Ross Henderson of YRC Worldwide Inc. will moderate a panel discussion by the president and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association, the COO of Raven Transport and the director of LTL Services with Landstar. • Winn-Dixie invites the community to a summer kickoff from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the 11701 San Jose Blvd. supermarket. The Williams Family YMCA will grill hamburgers and hot dogs for donations.
• Col. Alfred Pantano Jr., who has commanded the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District since 2009, will relinquish command to Col. Alan Dodd at a change of command ceremony Thursday. Pantano is leaving to assume command of Afghanistan District — North, Trans-Atlantic Division of the Corps. Dodd most recently graduated from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pa., and before that was commander of the 27th Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg, N.C. As Jacksonville District commander, Dodd will assume responsibility for the federal development of water resources in Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Jacksonville District’s annual program exceeds $400 million.
