Fagan sworn in as Clay County Bar Association president

Attorney John Fagan was sworn in as president of the Clay County Bar Association for 2012.

Fagan was installed at the 39th annual installation of officers, held at Fleming Island Plantation.

Clay County Judge Richard Townsend officially installed the new officers.

Serving with Fagan will be Steve Whittington, vice president; Alison Hickman, treasurer; and La’Rae Hendrix, secretary.

The guest speaker was St. Johns River State College President Joe Pickens.

The Clay County Bar Association Inc. was formally organized in 1973.

The association is a nonprofit organization with four presiding officers. Each May, the association organizes and sponsors a Law Day Clay County event.

In October, the association sponsors a barbecue for Legal Aid.

The bar association promotes the involvement of Clay County attorneys in the community with sponsorship emphasis on Clay Legal Aid and Clay Teen Court.

All Clay County judges are members.
