• The Women’s Center of Jacksonville will feature Charlene Taylor Hill as part of its “2012 Speaker Series — Women, Words and Wisdom” on March 27. She is executive director of the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission. The event starts with a 5:30 p.m. reception, followed by the program at 6:30 p.m., at Theatre Jacksonville in San Marco. • The D.W. Perkins Bar Association Inc. will host a Women’s Recognition Luncheon at noon Thursday at the Hyatt Downtown, featuring guest speaker Natalie Jackson, founder of The Women’s Trial Group in Orlando. • The retirement ceremony for Circuit Judge Haldane Taylor is scheduled at 4 p.m. March 29 in Courtroom 4 of the Duval County Courthouse.

• MAU Workforce Solutions plans a job fair from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday to fill immediate openings for welders and welding school candidates at TTX Co. in Jacksonville. The fair is at the Quality Inn, formerly a Holiday Inn, at 6802 Commonwealth Ave. at Interstate 295. At least six months of experience in mechanical and welding fields is required. TTX provides railcars and related freight car management services to the North American rail industry.

• Correction: Maylon Boatwright’s name was misspelled in a photo cutline Friday with a story about Tim Tebow’s “Timmy’s Playroom” on Page A-4.

• Daniel Brock was promoted to tax manager at LBA Certified Public Accountants.

• Slurpee fans, take note. At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Landing Downtown, Mayor Alvin Brown and 7-Eleven Inc. President and CEO Jo DePinto are scheduled to join Toney Sleiman, president of Sleiman Enterprises, state and other local leaders to announce the previously reported return of 7-Eleven to Jacksonville. They’ll talk about new jobs and franchise opportunities. And Slurpees.

• The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors reported that for February, closed home sales dropped 2.6 percent to 1,180 compared to the 1,212 closings in February 2011. Of closed sales, 620 were traditional and 560 (47.5 percent) were lender-mediated. The overall median sales price dropped a slight 0.2 percent to $119,700 from $120,000. Pending sales rose 26.5 percent to 1,750 from 1,383, and inventory declined 30.2 percent, a 6.7-month supply. A 5-6 month supply is considered a balanced market.

• Baptist Medical Center Downtown and Wolfson Children’s Hospital will turn digital this month. Physicians, nurses, medical records professionals and other staff will be part of the implementation of full electronic medical records. It will help Baptist Health meet the goal for a systemwide electronics record system. Baptist Medical Center South opened in 2005 as one of the nation’s first all-digital hospitals, followed by conversion at Baptist Medical Center Beaches and Baptist Medical Center Nassau.
