• Mayor Alvin Brown has a busy graduation season. On Saturday, Brown will present the keynote address at the 9:30 a.m. commencement at Jacksonville University, which will honor him with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. On May 12, Brown will deliver the keynote address at the 1 p.m. commencement at Edward Waters College. Brown attended Edward Waters College, which has awarded him an honorary doctorate, before he transferred to JU, where he completed his bachelor’s degree and an MBA.

• Correction: Brennan, Manna & Diamond is the name of the law firm. It was stated incorrectly in the Monday Daily Record.

• Joseph Quinlan, managing director and chief market strategist with U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, will speak at the Global Business Luncheon from noon-1:30 p.m. May 22 at The River Club. His topic will be “Economic Effects of the Global Shortfall of Water.” The event is co-hosted by the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville and The Gate Governors Club. • The 34th Annual Springfield Spring Home and Garden Tour is scheduled May 19-20 and will benefit the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council and the Springfield Heritage Education Center.
