• Jacksonville Suns President Peter Bragan Jr. is scheduled as keynote speaker to the North Council of the JAX Chamber at its program Thursday. It meets from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. Information: [email protected].

 • The ninth “Dine with Us Downtown” with Kim and Bill Prescott, chief financial officer of the Jacksonville Jaguars, is scheduled 5-10 p.m. May 24 at the Chart House restaurant on the Southbank. The Prescotts have reservations at 7 p.m.

• The Stellar architecture, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm has completed the renovation and expansion of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Day School. The project united the school campus and church campus, previously divided by Oxford Avenue, and included a 1,200-square-foot chapel expansion, a new 10,000-square-foot commons building and 7,400 square feet of new covered walkways and a drop-off pavilion. 

• Morris Publishing Group LLC reported a first-quarter net loss of $1.9 million, compared with a loss of $1.2 million in the first quarter of 2011. Total revenue fell 5.6 percent to $51.9 million, according to its quarterly report filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Augusta, Ga.-based Morris is the publisher of The Florida Times-Union and 11 other daily newspapers. Morris said revenue from Jacksonville, its largest market, fell 11.3 percent in the first quarter.

• The Jacksonville Jaguars are receiving upgraded locker-room facilities. The City approved a permit for Turner Construction Co. to renovate the locker room, at 11,539 square feet, at a project cost of $2.7 million.

• The City also OK’d construction of a pergola at Friendship Park. AC General Inc. is the contractor for the $197,000 project.

• The Jacksonville Economic Development Commission seeks “the professional services of firms/consultants to provide Management, Maintenance/Caretaker Support Services” for Cecil Commerce Center. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting is scheduled at 10 a.m. May 22 at Cecil Commerce Center. The Request for Proposal is on the City website, www.coj.net, and replies are due 2 p.m. June 6.

• Meanwhile, T. Preston Herold, former vice president of Hillwood Investment Properties and developer of AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center, has left the company for personal reasons, said James Fuller, spokesman for Hillwood. The company was named master developer of the Cecil Commerce Center property by the City in 2010 and the company agreed to develop the property over 25 years. Herold has been temporarily replaced by Dan Patsch and Kerry Roetzel, who are working out of the company’s Dallas office. “We are absolutely committed to this project,” said Fuller. The mayor’s office was notified of the change last week. “This does not affect our agreements or obligations at Cecil Commerce Center. We are still actively marketing the property throughout the country,” said David DeCamp, communications director for Mayor Alvin Brown.

• The Solantic chain of urgent care centers in Florida is changing its name and design into CareSpot Express Healthcare starting in October. Solantic was founded in Jacksonville in 2001 and entered into a joint venture with Baptist Health in 2010 for the 12 centers in the greater Jacksonville area. Co-branded signs in Northeast Florida will be customized in this market to read, “CareSpot: A partner with Baptist Health.”
