The Week of Valor program, launched by Mayor Alvin Brown, began a week ago and ends today.

Past and present members of the military were recognized and assisted in programs throughout the week.

They were saluted Monday at an appreciation luncheon; Thursday at the Jacksonville Jaguars-Indianapolis Colts game; Friday at the Navy-Marine Corps Classic aboard the USS Bataan at Naval Station Mayport; and they will be honored today at the Veterans Day Parade Downtown.

Active and retired military personnel visited Duval County public schools Wednesday to talk about their service. There was a Veterans Summit on Wednesday at the University of North Florida to discuss the challenges and needs of veterans and the City hosted a Veterans Job Fair on Friday at the Osborn Center.
