As the holidays approach, it is the perfect time to reflect on the past year and express gratitude. We can show appreciation for the learning experiences of both success and challenge, for the amazing support that exists within our industry and for the continued well-being of our families and friends. We should also give thanks for Northeast Florida Builder Association's ongoing and important community efforts and charitable accomplishments.

Builders Care, the charitable arm of NEFBA devoted to healing sub-standard housing, recently celebrated its 11th year of service. With volunteer homebuilders, subcontractors and real estate agents devoting time, talent, materials and labor to those who can't afford construction services, Builders Care has provided home and building improvements for more than a thousand people.

Recent projects include renovations to Second Harvest Food Bank and building a new child care center for Gateway Community Services. What a difference Builders Care has made — and continues to make — in the lives of so many throughout our community.

NEFBA also makes charitable giving an important focus of its mission during the year. Many of you take part in such activities as the President's Project and the SMC holiday auction. You have made the lives of children more meaningful through toy and teddy bear donations, and supporting organizations like daniel and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

In short, I am incredibly proud to be part of an organization that values community involvement so highly. Giving back is an important way for us to say "Thank you!" to Northeast Florida for continuing to support our industry.

Keep up the good work, and a very Happy Thanksgiving to each of you!
