• The next meeting of the Downtown Investment Authority is 2 p.m. Tuesday in Room 851 on the eighth floor of the Ed Ball Building Downtown. The topic will be Downtown parking legislation.
• The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has received a 2012 Top Honors Award for International Conservation for its support of the Grevy's Zebra Trust. The Grevy's zebra population has declined in the past 30 years and now is found only in northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia, according to a news release. The zoo is one of 26 Association of Zoos and Aquariums members involved in the effort.
• Baptist Health has been granted a three-year full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer Centers. The designation is provided to centers that commit to high levels of quality breast care and undergo evaluations and performance reviews.
• The Riverside Arts Market and Community First Credit Union will host Small Business Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday at the weekly market under the Fuller Warren Bridge. The goal is to encourage residents to support the local economy by shopping at small businesses during the holiday season.
• The U.S. Small Business Administration invites nominations for the 2013 North Florida Small Business Person of the Year award and other awards — Small Business Exporter of the Year, Veteran Business Owner of the Year, Minority Business Owner of the Year, Woman Business Owner of the Year, Small Business Advocate, Financial Services Advocate and Small Business Media Advocate. The North Florida district small business winner will compete at the state and national levels. For information, visit sba.gov. Nominations are due by Jan. 3.
• Hamilton Traylor will serve as chairman of The Blood Alliance for the 2012-13 term. Also leading the 19-member board are Jim Sebesta, vice chairman; Daniel Brock, treasurer; Marianne Hillegass, secretary; Dr. Malcolm Foster, immediate past chairman; and Valerie Collins, president. In addition, Tracee Holzendorf has joined the board for a three-year term.
• Kathleen Junker has joined 121 Financial Credit Union as mortgage manager. She will be responsible for managing mortgage department functions from origination to servicing. She previously served as a financial control analyst for the state Office of Financial Regulation for two years after 24 years in the banking industry.
