One Spark announced its 30-day Kickstarter campaign Tuesday to fundraise and generate local monetary support for its 2013 Downtown event April 17-21.
“This new component of our fundraising efforts complements the $300,000 we’ve raised from private investors,” Elton Rivas, One Spark Inc. president and executive director and co-founder of CoWork Jax, said in a news release.
Kickstarter is a crowd-funding website and One Spark has set a $90,000 fundraising goal to raise capital to stage its inaugural event, which will bring artists, designers, inventors and innovators, according to the release. Support can range from $10 to $10,000.
“We want this event to be propelled forward by a grassroots effort,” Rivas said.
One Spark is a nonprofit that began as an effort to assist entrepreneurs in connecting to capital and resources in Jacksonville. Its signature event, One Spark, is expected to draw hundreds who will compete for a share of a guaranteed $250,000 fund at more than 50 venues Downtown.
