World of Beer on tap for Tinseltown
World of Beer plans to open its first Jacksonville store in June, landing the building permit Wednesday for the neighborhood tavern chain in the Tinseltown area.
JCON Commercial Corp. will make the tenant improvements at 9700 Deer Lake Court, No. 1, at a project cost of $200,000.
The World of Beer's Facebook page for the Jacksonville location says it is "shooting for June to drink that first craft beer!"
The World of Beer – Southside Facebook page posted March 29:
"Folks after clearing all zoning boards we were issued our building permit this week and you will see the workers on site the week of 8-12 Apr 2013. This has been a long process and the city has helped us in every way to speed this up," it said.
"We thank you for your patience and understanding. We are projecting June 2013 as the opening and trust us; we want WOB to open in Southside just as bad as you guys and gals do. Please continue supporting the site and telling friends about us. Cannot wait to meet everyone in June!
"BTW if you are interested in employment please email us at [email protected]," it said.
The Daily Record previously reported that World of Beer had applied for a zoning exception to sell all alcoholic beverages at the strip center at 9700 Deer Lake Court, Nos. 1-2. That space includes the former Starbucks that now is vacant. World of Beer also wants outside seating and service.
A zoning exception request submitted Jan. 29 shows the property owner is Thomas Beeckler, president of TSB I Inc., and the agent is The Touring Co. Inc. Civil and Marine Consulting.
As the Daily Record has reported, Tampa-based World of Beer plans to develop its first Jacksonville location with a 2,938-square-foot bar and performance stage, shown on the construction permit application at a build-out cost of $200,000. Plans show 141 bar seats.
The company's website,wobusa.com, states that the World of Beer culture is a neighborhood environment and "being surrounded by good people who enjoy awesome beer, great music and sports. When you walk into World of Beer we want you to feel like you're hosting a party in your own living room."
On March 13, World of Beer announced it opened its 37th location. It said the location, in Denver, was the first in Colorado "for the craft beer concept boasting over 500 different, ever-changing bottles and 60 rotating taps."
