• City Council confirmed Wyman Winbush to the JEA board of directors Tuesday. He replaced Ashton Hudson, who resigned April 10, on the seven-member board. Winbush's appointment confirmation had been deferred since February to allow Hudson to work on economic development deals as board chair.
• The last of four vision meetings for the JAX2025 community-visioning initiative of the Jacksonville Community Council Inc. is 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Osborn Center. "Action strategies" will be defined during the meeting. Components include "they should," "you can," and "I will," with participants defining what organizations and local government should do, what resident can do and what individuals will do to implement the program. • There has been a date change for the Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville build of 25 homes in six days for the New Town neighborhood, west of Downtown. The event begins June 1 and ends June 8. • G. Thomas "Tom" Frankland has been named to the Baptist Medical Center Beaches board of directors. Frankland is president and CEO of Atlantic Coast Financial Corp. and chairman, president and CEO of Atlantic Coast Bank. He also serves on the executive committee of Springboard Capital.
• Skyway ridership received a hefty bump in ridership from the April 17-21 One Spark Festival. A recorded 44,282 Skyway boardings took place during the crowd-sourcing festival Downtown. Average weekday ridership grew from about 4,500 passengers a day to 10,289 passengers a day, according to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority. The Skyway is typically closed weekends, but remained open and free to ride during the festival. Rideship totals during the festival were:
