Community involvement: The JBA Law Day Committee; active member and legal counsel for the upcoming year of the Junior League of Jacksonville.

How did you become involved?

With the Law Day Committee, a lunch a few years ago quickly turned into helping with the committee. With Junior League, while in law school I wanted to be more active in the local community and joined the League located in Hampton Roads, Va. I transferred my membership to the Jacksonville League after moving back home.

How can someone else become involved?

With the Law Day Committee, contact Chair Michael Lockamy at [email protected]. He will quickly be able to find a place for you on the committee that puts on events — speakers, social and community service — over the monthlong span that Law "Day" entails. With Junior League, look up the group's website, jljacksonville.org, to apply to be a member or look at other ways to be involved in its community efforts. Any help is appreciated.

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?

Never underestimate the positive impact a hardworking and motivated group of people can make in the community.

What was the last book you read or are reading?

"The Summons" by John Grisham
