The Northeast Florida Builders Association and the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors have signed an agreement that gives home buyers the reassurance that all parties involved in the purchase of a new-construction home have pledged to conduct business with the highest of ethical standards.

The Realtor Builder Accord commits both parties to transparent, consumer-friendly actions in such areas as roles and responsibilities, compensation and communication guidelines that govern the exchange of information between the Realtor and the builder's representatives. Under the accord, both the builder and Realtor are vested in providing the buyer with transparency, ensuring the lines of communication are open and respect is shown among all parties involved.

"Professionals in our industry are known for working together with respect and professionalism to achieve a common goal," NEFBA President Dennis Ginder said. "We want home buyers to know they are receiving the utmost integrity and responsibility when working with Realtors and builders participating under this accord."

The Realtor Builder Accord has been signed by these NEFBA members:

• Landon Homes

• Riverside Homes

• Matovina & Company

• Dreambuilder Custom Homes

• Southern Lifestyle Homes

• Mercedes Premier Homes

• Dostie Homes

• Bourré Construction Group

• Dream Finders Construction

• CornerStone Homes

The following NEFAR members have also signed the accord:

• Prudential Network Realty

• Watson Realty Company

• Coldwell Banker Vanguard

• Benchmark Brokers Inc.

• Traditions Realty Group

• Davidson Realty

• Beaches Realty

• Exit Real Estate Gallery

• RE/MAX

• The Legends of Real Estate

The accord was developed by a task force of representatives of both associations. The idea for the project developed following a presentation by motivational speaker Bill Webb to the NEFBA board in March 2011. The first accord was signed in June 2012. The two Northeast Florida industry associations are the first in the state to formalize and sign this type of agreement.

"Our accord has set a standard that will benefit the home-building industry," Ginder said. "Most importantly, this agreement will give peace of mind to prospective home buyers for years to come."
